The McBride Company Completes Design of First Margaritaville Vacation Club by Wyndham
Manchester Center, VT, August 24, 2015 – The McBride Company, a creative concept and design firm specializing in hospitality and leisure destinations, announces the completion of phase one of the first Margaritaville Vacation Club resort, Wyndham St. Thomas, located in Smith Bay, St. Thomas, USVI. Wyndham commissioned The McBride Company to design a beachfront Margaritaville Restaurant, a 5 o’Clock Somewhere Bar on the pool deck and other entertainment features. The company also oversaw the design of the resort’s 70 beachfront condo-style units.
For more than 15 years, The McBride Company has worked with Margaritaville to conceptualize and design more than 30 restaurants, hotels and casinos that give guests the opportunity to escape from the pressures of everyday life and experience the laid-back lifestyle of singer, songwriter and author Jimmy Buffett. “We brought our intimate knowledge of the brand and how to incorporate elements of the local area into every aspect of the project’s design,” said Pat McBride of The McBride Company. “Together with Margaritaville and Wyndham’s team, we’ve designed one of the top timeshare resort destinations in the Caribbean.”
The first phase of Wyndham St. Thomas features 62 studio and studio deluxe units; eight presidential reserve units; pool and pool bar; restaurant; marketplace; lobby; dive and retail shops; fitness center; game room; and on-site sales office. The McBride Company’s design of the $100 million flagship Margaritaville Vacation Club by Wyndham property provides a genuine Margaritaville experience through design features that include:
- Scenic Arrival to Paradise. The drive through the vacation club entrance gives guests a glimpse of the paradise that awaits within. Cascading waterfalls and dense tropical vegetation wind along the road that guides guests deeper into the destination.
- Spectacular Views. Once inside the lobby, guests are greeted with a spectacular view of the beach and St. John Island.
- Yacht-Inspired Condo Units. The McBride Company’s direction for the beachfront condo units exudes laidback luxury and takes design cues from the yachting industry’s use of space, high-end finishes and attention to detail, with clean lines and custom millwork. Each unit features a wet bar complete with a Margaritaville Frozen Concoction Maker and “fins” backsplash.
- Brand Within a Brand. The resort inspired the creation of a first-of-its-kind LandShark Bar within a Margaritaville Restaurant. Located over the sand, the bar provides guests with views of Water Bay, St. John Island and the resort’s many water sports.
- Margaritaville Restaurant. The air-conditioned Margaritaville Restaurant serving island-inspired food and cool concoctions exudes an authentic local Caribbean vibe inspired by the authentic architecture of the region. Bifold doors and a folding glass wall system open wide to a porch aptly named the “Porch of Indecision,” located directly on the sand.
- 5 o’Clock Somewhere Bar. The tiki-style bar structure features a scaled replica of the Hemisphere Dancer, Buffett’s Seaplane, complete with bullet holes from a run-in with Jamaican authorities as referenced in his song “Jamaica Mistaica.”
- Expansive Pool. The sprawling pool area includes in-pool seats, a hot tub and entertainment spaces.
