This fanciful recreation of an artist's loft conveys a new meaning for “Food For the Starving Artist.” The concept was launched in the artists' mecca of Coconut Grove, FL, where it won critical praise for its culinary and aesthetic qualities: a provocative blend of working artists with great food, drink, and lively conversation. The aged loft design concept is adorned with a plethora of objects d'art, wood beams, and the mementos that you’d typically find in an artists studio.
Much more than just a theatrical restaurant setting, Café Tu Tu Tango was designed to both promote and fit the lifestyles of actual emerging artists. Artists set up stations in various parts of the restaurant and work for food from the eclectic tapas menu. After their pieces are completed, they are hung on the walls for purchase.
Every detail was intended to enhance the atmosphere and drive home the artist’s loft concept. By example, you might find paintbrushes and stencils mixed in with your silverware on the table.
